Looking to do a possible visit to Cortina for a five night stay in mid June. Love to hike and enjoy alpine food. We are flying to Venice from SFO than driving to Cortina tha back to Venice. Dropping off car and taking train to Florence for four nights and back to Venice for three nights. Doable?
Hi Richard,
Shure sounds doable. Just an opinion, base a bit further west in the Alta Badia instead of Cortina. We've stayed twice in La Villa, Alta Badia at the Ciasa Montanara. Stunning scenery, hikes and a number of stunning Dolomite Passes to drive in the immediate area.

The Alta Badia is more central and a bit less expensive than Cortina.
Cortina is OK to visit but not a place I'd want to spend most of my time in the mountains. The town is a bit of a scene, very touristy, and fairly expensive for the area.
If you want to hike and enjoy the food you should head to the Val Gardena in the heart of the Dolomites. It's much nicer, the hiking is some of the best in Europe and the scenery can't be beat!
Thanks for all the great ideas. Now I just need to make a decision 😉
We are now staying at the Hotel Gran Ciasa in Colfosco. 170 per night in a comfort room including half board. Looks beautiful.
