CoopCulture - underground colosseum tours

So if I've got this correct, the site will open up April for booking around mid-March?

(Currently, the site is allowing booking through 31 March.) Nothing up yet for April...

Will be using a Roma Pass.

Do I have to have the pass in hand before I call to book the the Underground tour? (Does the Pass have a number or something I need to give them on the phone?)

Thanks for the help - we are leaving in a few days on an extended trip and booking/printing stuff will be a little more difficult so trying to figure out the logistics...get whatever I can before we head out.

And something else...

Just noticed a post by Donna on another thread about this (Thanks!) that you we can book the Underground tour online (no need to call any longer...) and check in for the tour with those tickets. Then we use the Roma Pass to get through the turnstiles into the Colosseum with the tour group...that seems to answer my previous question about whether I need the Roma Pass before booking the underground tour--online or by phone. Sounds like I don't.

So, this brings up another logistics question - from what I've seen on the CoopCulture website, the english tours seem to be going out in the afternoon.

If that's the case for April, then we'll want to visit the Forum/Palatine in the morning before the tour. We'll have our Roma Pass and intend to use the Colosseum-Forum-Palatine combo as our first free selection.

Am I right in thinking we can use our Roma Pass to get us into the Forum/Palatine that morning using the Forum entrance-- and then in the afternoon, use it to get us into the Colosseum for the Underground Tour since we won't have visited the Colosseum yet?

Have I got this right?

Yes, Cheryl, you're correct. Use the romapass to get into the forum/palatine hill and then in the afternoon use it for entry into the colosseum for your tour. You don't need to buy the pass until you get to Rome but you can still book the underground tour online. The dates for April should open up in mid March. Just keep checking the official site.

Just remember that the forum and palatine hill are inner connected so are considered one site, once you leave either of them you won't be allowed back inside. You can also visit them on the day before or the day after the colosseum tour if you don't have enough time or energy that same morning. The combo site only takes one entry off of your romapass.

You don't need to use a private tour company for any of this.

Thanks for confirming logistics, Donna. Really appreciate all the info you've posted.

Good to know we can just get the Roma Pass when we arrive.

And also that I can book the Underground Tour online - makes things MUCH simpler given we'll be wandering around Egypt mid-March--hopefully with good internet connections.

On another note - I called the number to book Palazzo Valentini for a tour. Got through but the connection was horrible.

I think she said I would get an email with my confirmation number--which she also gave me over the phone. However, haven't received the promised email.
(Tried to give them my email address but I'd bet they didn't get it. The lady demonstrated amazing patience to repeat over and over again the confirmation number until I could repeat it back to her correctly.)

Given your experience, would you say having the confirmation number is sufficient? She told me I would pay when I arrived since we'll have the Roma Pass--so no money has changed hands yet.

Thanks again-
Cheryl

You'll be fine with just the reservation number and your name. I wouldn't worry about it.
