Coopculture - Colosseum tickets

I was under the impression that I could purchase tickets online for the Colosseum Underground and Tier III for October 1 starting July 25 at 6:30 Italy time which would have been 12:30 Florida time. But after September the calendar of dates are not highlighted to click on. Does anyone have any information why or am I wrong about the date.

I was looking today as well. I was only able to find tickets with the tours available. I see the underground with a tour has some openings. I bit the bullet, and bought my 2 tickets with the english tour... i didn't want to take any chances not getting tickets.

Don't feel too bad--We took the Coopculture underground and floor tour last month. I was really looking forward to seeing the underground and standing on the Colosseum floor. Let's just say that I was underwhelmed. We had been to the Colosseum before and toured the other parts, but I really wanted to see the underground. You don't get to see that much of it--I thought you would get to see more. Yes, it was neat to see and I'm glad we did it, but if it was something that I couldn't get tickets to, it would have been OK. I didn't know that beforehand, so like you, I would have been bummed out. But knowing what I know now, I would have been just fine not touring the underground. I'm sure others may disagree, but that's my opinion. Just make sure you get in and tour the rest! Enjoy your trip!

Although I don’t speak Italian nor Spanish there are guided tours in those languages. Should I book it anyhow?

If you really, really want to see the underground, you could book one of those. The tour was fine, we learned some new things, but I don't remember learning a whole lot from the tour guide. If you read up and do some research on your own so you know something about what you are seeing, that would help.

We booked the Spanish tour because we couldn’t get the English. Turns out we weren’t the only ones in our group. Our daughters took Spanish and my husband and I understand a little. I also had been there before and really wanted to see the underground. As one other person said, really underwhelming. You don’t see much of it but what you did see was interesting. If I could do it again, I wouldn’t stress over not seeing the underground.

Considering I can’t get tickets directly from the official site do you think I should book an expensive tour or just walk up to the ticket office that day and purchase them?

....or just walk up to the ticket office that day and purchase them?

Kathy, you're not going to just "walk up" to the Colosseum ticket office and buy tickets. You'd stand in a very long line and then only for "ordinary entrance" tickets. Yes, the tour you were wanting to book went on sale today - or was scheduled to, anyway - and sells out in minutes.

Personally, I wouldn't buy an expensive tour JUST to access the underground: you'll be able to see down into it from upper 'main' areas, and tours don't spend all that much time down there. There are other economical options for getting in, such as this 45-minute, 19.00€ guided tour of the main areas:

There are many tickets still available for Oct. 1, and these also cover you for entry to the Palatine/Forum (self guided) after your Colosseum tour. There is also a very economical 3-hour tour (29.00€) which includes guided narration of those 2 areas as well, and tickets are also available for Oct. 1.

I agree with Kathy--If I had booked one of the expensive tours from another company mainly to be able see the underground, I would have been extremely disappointed about having spent so much money to see so little.

As it turned out the tour we wanted had one ticket left at 11:25 and one ticket left at 11:45. My husband bought them hoping we could meet up inside. Hoping it will work. Thanks for all your advice.

Pretty sure you will not be able meet up until after your separate tours are over.

Wow that was fast! I’ve been looking to book the Domus tickets for October and thought they’re be available July 23, but have been checking often and they’re still not out - does anyone know when the Domus October tickets will be available?

Can somebody explain how to get into the Coliseum if you purchase tickets from them? I do not want to buy a Roma Pass and I want to skip the lines? Should we just book a guaranteed expensive tour? We are looking at Oct 21. I called and they only had afternoon tickets available. Thank you!

micheleroem. please read the thread above + ALL the text on the coopculture website. General entry - or "ordinary" tickets - release on multiple dates. General entry/ordinary tickets are NOT for tours, however.

For an inexpensive tour, please look at the very economical 45-minute or 3-hour tours I included links for previously in this thread. Yes, everyone wants to skip the lines. While you can skip ticket lines by buying in advance, security-check queues - which NO one can skip - can be lengthy during high season. And you may have to settle for whatever time tickets/tours are still available.

I'd explained this in one of your previous posts:
