coopculture - colloseo

I had a challenging morning trying to order tickets. I wanted the underground tour tickets, but by the time I realized today was the day, there were few to be had and I kept getting rejected even after I submitted my info. I finally just bought the regular no tour admission tickets. A few hours later, some spots became available for the underground tour, so I bought those too. I can't get a refund for the first tickets, can I?

You need both the general admission ticket and the underground tour ticket.

I need to purchase both the 12 Euro ticket and the 29 Euro ticket?

My regular admission ticket is for 9:15 am and the tour ticket is for 1:05 p.m. Does this mean I have to buy another set of admission tickets for 1:05 or might coopculture exchange the earlier ticket for a later entry time?

Vojo, if you paid € 29.00 for your 2nd ticket, you likely bought the Underground AND Panoramic view tour + regular entry to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine.

Full entrance ticket € 12,00 + guided tour € 15,00 + pre-sale fee € 2,00 = € 29.00

So if this is what you bought, it included the entry ticket you need for the tour and, no, the other ticket isn't refundable.

"The purchased tickets cannot be refund or rescheduled to a different date of visit and/or a different entrance time on the same day."

Sorry, the tour now includes the general admission. They've made so many changes to their site it's been almost impossible to keep up.

Edit: Kathy has the most up to date info

Isn't THAT the truth, Gerri! I've all but given up too. There's also SO much text to wade though now that it's really easy to miss something.

Vojo, as Gerri suggested, you could at least see if they'd be willing to refund the ticket. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh?

I think I will call them tomorrow morning and ask. Trying to buy these tickets was like trying to register for classes at school. You try to register early because you have priority registration yet all the classes are full, so you register for a less desirable class. Then later more spots are opened in the classes! Arrr! I learned a lot from this experience - first and foremost that I needed to let my bank know that I was trying to use my charge card at an Italian website!

You might also mention this to the front desk at the hotel. Someone may be looking for tickets.

Only do this IF your name is not on the ticket.

The last time I was there is 3 years ago, and I don't know if names are now on them.

If they won't refund my money, it's o.k. There are plenty of worse ways to lose money and I learned some lessons.

Vojo- I just wanted to say that even if you can’t return the tickets for the general admission, it is still a financial deal as tours of the underground through other companies as so much more expensive. We just went on the 2hour coopculture tour of the Underground and Belvedere last week and it was amazing. The guide was one of the most interesting and knowledgeable we had on our whole trip. I’m so glad you got those tickets and enjoy!

While looking at the website, I found this information which may be helpful to those looking to book.

OPENING RESERVATION
Pre-sales openings are scheduled on a quarterly, monthly and weekly basis.
Tickets are sold gradually, in order to avoid any form of early hoarding and to ensure availability as close as possible to the date of access. Pre-sales will be open every first Monday of the month at 9:00 a.m. according to monthly availability for the Colosseum Arena, Underground scheduled time entrance, Underground tours for individuals in English, Belvedere scheduled time entrance . Pre-sales will be open every Monday at 9:00 am for Colosseum scheduled time entrance and Colosseum Arena for the following week according to the weekly availability.

mrm1111, the problem is bigger than just knowing when ticket go on sale. It's also choosing appropriate tickets from amongst the choices and getting though the system the minute they go on sale. Tours, especially, sell out in a flash. With so many people trying to get their hands on tickets at the same time, the system gets bogged down/crashes. People are having some difficulties with the system accepting their credit cards as well if they haven't initiated 3rd-layer protections, such as Verified by Visa.

Anyway, its all lots of fun in the middle of the night! I'll wager that Colosseum ticketing is the #1 topic on the TripAdvisor Rome forum these days.

Hi Kathy,

Yes I realize its quite a circus when trying to purchase these tickets. I thought it was interesting that they release at different times to avoid hoarding so if you don't find your tickets on the first day, try again later. The website is rather confusing, I think I had less documentation when I bought my house. lol.
I'm waiting for July to open up and yes I have a few sleepless nights ahead of me.

The tickets for April went on sale on February 25th - a Monday, but not the first Monday of the month.
