Coopculture Coliseum/ Vatican tour

For the coopculture tour do you need to purchase the entry ticket and the guided tour or are they one entity? Also -- it seems so much less expensive than private tours -- is it a good tour. We would rather not pay close to $300 for three people if we could help it -- but if there is big difference in quality we will!

Also -- can anyone tell me how the Vatican tour that you book through the official Vatican site is? Should we splurge and take a small group early entry tour?

Thanks!

The info you previously received from Donna about the Colosseum tickets is still the same: you need to purchase entry tickets PLUS tickets for the underground/third ring tour (if that's the tour you're asking about) separately. Total of the two will be 25 euro per adult if done through the coopculture website.

The tours you can purchase through the Vatican's website are fine although I wouldn't book the early-entry small group breakfast tour on that site as it's really expensive (366 euro for two). Early entry breakfast with audioguide is more reasonable (130 euro).

"Walks Of Italy: Pristine Sistine" is very popular with RS members; 178 euro for two (no breakfast) and includes the basilica. As the 130-euro breakfast+ audioguide tour doesn't include the church, this is a better deal. It'll also shorten some steps/time as you'll enter St. Peter's directly via a back stairway.

You may also choose a similar option through the Vatican website although it's shorter (3 hours versus 4) and doesn't include early entry; 74 euro for 2.

You don't need to start a new thread just to add information. It becomes confusing. Just add it to your original post. People will post new answers if they have any information to share.

There are several tours of the Vatican museums offered by the Vatican. They are all good and cost different prices. I don't know when you plan to travel but there will be Friday night visits opening up soon. This may be a good alternative for you if it fits into your travel plans.

As for if you should splurge or not, that's a personal decision only you can make.

els18- A group of 6 adults were in Italy in May and we went on tours of the Underground (coliseum) and Vatican museums using their tour guides. It was a tremendous savings and we felt the tours were very good. We did the underground later in the day around 16:00 and the Vatican museum tour at 2:00. The underground was great but you really need to be able to walk steep steps. The vatican museum tour ended at the Sistine chapel and then the tour guide brought us back to the front and let us go around to different areas for more in depth touring. We ended in the Sistine around 17:00 and it was not so crowded. We went from there directly to the Basilica. Again, I would highly recommend their guides, but you need to have some background info on both places before you arrive!
