Cooking Vacations in Amalfi Coast

I am planning a cooking vacation for the Amalfi Coast beg of May. Any suggestions as to a good reliable tour operator or organizer? I am open to all comments. Thank you.

Yoli, I have been to the Amalfi Coast, and is truly a special place. I recently met a publicist for Mamma Agata, who lives in Ravello. I have not actually eaten her food, but she is getting quite the following in America. Here is her website: http://www.mammaagata.com/ Chris

Thank you. I have seen that following as well. I was looking into Cooking-Vacations. They were highlighted in National Geographic recently and they have many programs but I wanted some personal experience information. Any particular town you really like better: Ravello, Sorrento, Positano?

I have to plead ignorance of Ravello, but I would say that while Sorrento is a wonderful town, I would go deeper into the peninsula to stay. Towns like Positano and Amalfi are more laid back and quiet compared to Sorrento. Personally, I liked Amalfi the best.

Thank you Chris, that sounds like a plan.

Try Ciao Laura Cooking Vacations - we booked several cooking classes and a tour of a limoncello and olive oil factory with her last summer - absolutely wonderful!

Yes Rick, Ciao Laura appears often but there is nothing like someone who has been there. Limoncello...hmmmm I can taste it now.

I spent a lot of time shopping around for classes for my wife and daughter and I can assure you, that the owner of Ciao Laura company has been there and personally knew each of the people that we met. In fact, she is very highly regarded and respected by all of them, including Mamma Agata's cooking school (recommendation above) which was one of the 3 cooking lessons we booked during our 10 day stay. The daughter of Mamma Agata (Chiara) raved about Laura and said she was simply the best! Good luck to you.
