Cooking Classes in Siena?

We will be in Siena in a few weeks and thought it would be fun to surprise my husband with a cooking class. Any suggestions for a 1 day or even a half day class.

Go HERE then use your browser's "Find on this page" function (press Ctrl+F in Internet Explorer, for example) and search for Siena. OR go there and scroll about 2/3 of the way down the page to find "Siena - Lesson with Chef Elisabetta".

Here's the description it gives...

Join Elisabetta and Marco, both fluent in English and passionate about cooking, for a wonderful learning experience in their cooking class. Their approach is characterized by a reverence for fresh ingredients, simple preparation and a harmonious combination of ingredients to bring out the natural flavors of food. The classes are held at the Siena Cooking School located inside the medieval walls of Siena. In each class a complete menu is prepared, and the session is followed by the meal complete with a DOCG wine.

Available year-round upon request for a minimum of two.

Morning class: 11AM-2PM
Available Monday through Saturday.

Evening class: 6PM-9PM
Available Monday through Friday.

Prices
US$180 per person

Not cheap, but of course you'll save the $40/person you'd probably has spent for a meal that day anyway!

The same web page lists a lot of other cooking classes, but I think that one is the only one it lists that's actually within the old walls of Siena.

There are probably other places too. This is just the one I know about.

Cooking classes in Italy are usually expensive. For example the 3 hour class for $180 per person. I took a full day class in Tuscany and it cost me about $500.00. They are not cheap!!!!

Yeah, I wonder why that is. It seems really high.

$500/person x just a couple of people/day, working just 4 days a week for 50 weeks = an income of $200,000/year with very few expenses.

I guess they charge that much because people are paying it!

I wonder if Europeans will pay me that rate here in Arkansas to teach them to fry catfish, make cornbread, barbeque ribs, etc. I think I'm in the wrong business!
