Cooking Classes in Central or Nothern Italy

We want to take a cooking class on our upcoming May trip to Italy. I was thinking maybe in the Bologna or Parma area, since they are the gastro-heart of Italy. If there are better options, I ll look at those too. We will be coming from Slovenia and heading to Lucca, where we will spend time with family. From there we head northwest to visit a friend in Aosta, and from there go into Switzerland. We will have a car for the Lucca portion of the trip for sure, but the rest might all be trains. We are flexible in that regard.

I've briefly googled this, and it looks like there are lots of options, but I've never thought of this activity before so it's new to me. Any recommendations? Is there a go-to source for info on cooking classes in Italy?

I took a superior class in Oct. 2018 from Chef Luigi, under his “Bologna Cooking Class” - that’s the name of his business. He actually teaches out of his tiny kitchen in his apartment in downtown Bologna, which can only fit maybe 3 or 4 students at a time.

He was very easy to communicate with, and made suggestions about the menu, but let me make a request to include tortellini in brodo. Just in the past couple weeks, I got an e-mail from him that Trip Advisor now lists him as one of their top 3 cooking class providers in Bologna, and one of the top 10 in Italy. I hope to go back for another class in the future.

If you’re going to be at Lucca, I recommend the Extra Virgin Cooking Class. I really enjoyed that one!
