Cooking Class / Wine

My wife and I will be staying just outside of Sienna in mid-September for four days. We are interested in doing a cooking class in the area although we do not want to take up an entire day to do so. We would like to incorporate some wine drinking with this class if possible. Any suggestions / recommendations? Should we make a reservation in advance?

I'm looking for the same idea...but would consider Florence too since we will be there for two days after our tour ends before moving to the outside of Siena!

We stayed at a B&B near Siena that had a cooking class and it was fabulous, so I don’t have a recommendation there. Our B&B owner recommended the wine tasting class at the Tuscan Wine school. We ran out of time, went to the hot springs/spa instead, but you may want to check it out. They have classes in Florence as well. Here is the ulr for you reference:

hey saluki
don't know how far outside if siena you'll and will you have a car? couple sites to check is toscanamia.net, discoverytuscany.com (under things to do), lepietrevive.it (nonna ciana) never used them, got info some other posters. we took a cooking class in florence which was really fun and interesting,
if you have a car drive up to panzano in chianti and visit the famous butcher, dario cecchini, his knowledge and showmanship. hope this gives you some ideas.

We stayed at Borgo Argentina (http://www.borgoargenina.it). It is 20 km north of Siena in the heart of Chianti wine country (nearest town is Monti). They have rooms in the main house (our college aged girls stayed there) and two villas. We stayed in Villa Oliveria (two bedroom with kitchen, large living room, and private patio). Elena is the host, a former fashion designer, who fell in love with the property and lovinglingly restored it. The cooking class is really fun. There were the 6 of us along with a couple from Australia, a father/son from New Jersey, and a young couple and their baby from Texas. What we liked about it is that we could sitesee during the day and then have the cooking class at 5:00 and enjoy an amazing dinner and wine.

You will need a car if you stay here, while you could taxi in and out, it is not ideal.

If you have any other questions about the region or the places we visited, please let me know
