Eating Europe do good food tours of Testaccio and Trastevere neighbourhoods. I did the Testaccio some years ago..interesting historic area, check out Mt Testaccio, made out of Roman era olive oil tempora. They had to be destroyed after one use as the oil soaked into the clay and this was the midden where they were disposed of. The tour went to the new Testaccio market and included a pasta lunch with wine! Lots of good tastings.

Trastevere concentrates more on the restaurants and bars/coffee shops. Interesting old area with some of the oldest churches in Rome. They offer one tour with pasta making.

Google them at www.eatingeurope.com.

We ended up not having time for this but I read about this group/service that offers cooking classes in homes. I see they also have market tours. https://cesarine.com/en

Enjoy your trip!

Hi Maggie,

Take a look at Sophie Minchilli's Instagram account (@sminchilli). She does market and food tours in Rome. While I haven't taken a tour with her (yet), I did have a travel consultation meeting with her for help in planning an upcoming trip.
