Cooking class in Rome or Florence

Hi Fellow Travelers -
We are planning a trip to Rome and Florence later this year. I just wondered if anyone has attended a cooking class this year in Florence or Rome. I've always wanted to do a cooking class in Italy, but never had the time and this trip we are staying for six weeks. If so, could you please give me feedback and contact information. Would sincerely appreciate any info!

we did an AWESOME cooking class in tuscany last summer on a BEAUTIFUL country estate near san geminano. it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, susanna the chef was so fun and my sister, cousin, husband and i learned so much about real genuine italian cuisine. will never forget this experience. contact tracy at www.ladolcetoscana.com, i know they also do cooking classes in and around florence city if you aren't planning to stay in the countryside (which i highly recommend, especially for such a long vacation). the hills and landscape are STUNNING!

Six weeks!! Lucky you!

You might be interested in this one, since you'll have lots of time. We just did it this past May: http://www.conviviorome.com/
It's done by a couple - Sally is Australian and Guido is Roman. It's outside of Rome by train in the gorgeous medieval hilltop town of Toffia that's virtually unknown to tourists. You catch the train from Termini in the morning to arrive at the nearest train station to the town. Sally meets you at the train station to drive you up to Toffia in their van. On their way to their apartment, you stop at their herb garden to pick up some ingredients for the lunch you'll be making, as you enjoy the views over the surrounding valleys and hills.

You make and eat lunch together (Guido is the chef), then you get driven to another nearby town to tour the abbey and its small church. TONS of opportunities for photographs, and Sally and Guido are delightful. Guido speaks English perfectly, so no language barrier there. Lastly, they drive you back to the train station to catch the train back to Rome. Truly a highlight of our trip.
