Converter for camera battery charger

I can't seem to find out if the battery charger that came with my Fuji 550EXR needs a converter. I have the adapter plugs and have read that newer electronics can be used with 100 - 240 Voltage. Neither the manual or the battery charger itself has that information that I can find. I don't want to ruin my battery charger but don't want to pay for a converter if I don't need it. The camera and charger are 3 years old. Anyone else have this model?

Look at the label on the charger. You may need a magnifying glass. That always says, unless you have pealed off the label :-)
If the charger is only 3 years old it probably does cover 110-240 V.

There has to be input information on the cord or on the body of the charger. It has to say something like 120-240 v. Even the manual should make some mention of input voltage. That is very, very standard. Is it original equipment? The charger that came with the camera.

joanne, as Chris and Frank have said, you'll be fine with the standard charger. You'll just need the appropriate adapter to go from your standard U.S. plug style, but not a converter.

Here's a link to the manual, see page 128.

I found a charger for the NP-50 battery for the Fuji 555EXR on Amazon, and the name plate on it says it takes 100-240 V 50/60 Hz. I costs 14.99, which is probably less than a converter. If your existing charger really does not say 100-240 V, get one of these.

joanne,

The voltage specifications WILL be listed somewhere on your camera charger, but as others have mentioned, you may have to use a magnifying glass. Look for the words "Input Voltage". If the ratings state "Input 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz" then all you'll need is inexpensive Plug Adaptors. I'd suggest packing along at least two Plug Adaptors as they're small and easy to misplace.
