I'd like to print a conversion chart for my wallet to go from Euro's into dollars. Anyone know of a good website to get one in printer friendly format? Haven't yet found one with google. Thanx.
A reasonably simple way to convert is to simply take the number of Euros, and multiply that by 1 1/2. so, if the dinner tab is 90 Euros, for example, you just multiply 90 times 1 1/2, which equals 135 U S dollars. The actual ratio is going to be a little higher, but not enough to make a big difference. A chart could give you all the conversions from 10 euros on up, but that would just be one more piece of paper to carry.
Carole, go to oanda.com and you can print out what they call a "cheat sheet"., euro to dollars and dollars to euro.
Thanx!
I agree with the CHEAT SHEET. I have printed that conversion table many times and used it frequently in many countries.
It is a convenient size and makes interpolating between amounts printed quite easy.
The cheat sheet from oanda is the best thing. They even let you print a wallet friendly version; it's about the size of your palm. I've used it on every overseas trip I've ever taken and it has been extremely helpful.
However, if you would just rather do a manual calculation, all you have to do it multiply the Euro amount by whatever the exchange rate is (right now, it's 1.49) and that will give you an amount as close as possible to US Dollars.
After a while, you will get the hang of it and be able to roughly estimate the cost in your head.
yes - i noticed that and wondered which rate to print.
I've never seen any reason to use a "conversion chart" for currrency exchange. Currency values fluctuate on a continuous basis, so any chart printed is only an approximation anyway (basically just a "snapshot").
I normally just make a note of the exchange rates on the day of departure, and just use an inexpensive Calculator to determine the "real" cost of any purchases. I find it very easy just to calculate "on the fly" without using either a calculator or chart - Euro transactions to the Cdn.$ are about 1.5x and UK Pound transactions are about 2x.
I you're travelling with an IPod Touch or PDA, another method is to store the exchange rates in a Memo. There are some travel app's for the IPod Touch that have currency exchange calculators, but so far I haven't used any of these so can't comment on how well they work.
Happy travels!
Boy, I wouldn't bother with a conversion chart. Just go with 1 and a half times as much. Will it really influence your decision if you determine that the scarf marked 10 euros is actually $14.79 or $15.03 (as opposed to being about fifteen bucks)? It's one less unnecessary thing to have to carry around.
