Convent/monastery lodging in Venice?

Has anyone stayed at any of the religious-house lodging in Venice? I really can't afford the price of hotels, but I'm concerned about getting lost trying to find an out-of-the-way convent (traveling alone, without the best sense of direction).

Or does anyone have suggestions for a centrally located, raasonable hotel? I'd like to be in easy walking distance of the Basilica of San Marco.

Thanks!

Please reply as to what is reasonable for you and what time of yr?
Venice is very expensive in general, a convent maybe more than you want to spend anyway. you can stay in nearby Mestre and very close to venice train station for less.
But for convenience you may just need to pay more prob over $150 US per night as a single and not nr San Marco. in the convent you may need to be in a dorm to pay about $40.

I'd like to pay 100 Euro (or less if possible) per night, so a convent seems like a good way to go if I can find one in a good location. I'd be there in early to mid-October. I'd welcome any thoughts. Thanks.

Hotel Bernardo-Samenzato is about a 15 minute walk to San Marco. I've stayed in the annex twice.Very clean, helpful staff,
central to San Marco, Rialto,Fondamenta Nuove(best for vaporettos to Murano,Burano,Torcello),decent restaurants in a safe, uncrowded & quiet area. Nothing in Venice is "cheap", but this is a great value for the reasonable rate, with some good trattorias nearby.

There are lots of places to stay in Venice for less than 100E a night as long as you don't want your own private bath, and it doesn't sound as if you do. We love Pensione Guerrato, where you can get a double with shared bath (down the hall) for about 95E a night. It's near the Rialto Bridge, about 4/10 of a mile from San Marco, as the crow flies.
