Convenient Venice hotel

Any suggestions on a moderately priced hotel in Venice walkable from the bus station for arrival by air and train station for departure?

hey hey darnold
when will you be in venice and how many days? moderately price means different strokes for different folks, what's your budget in euros, how many people and beds, check arrival and depature times and if early check ins, baggage holds. check your options for transportation (bus, train, vaporettos, shared water taxi). europeforvisitors.com has lots of info. let us know and we can help you out.

Thanks Princess Pupule---Only 2 nights, 10/8 and 9, arriving relatively late on the 8th [5pm-ish], hence my desire for a convenient location. Will probably take the bus from the airport to Piazzala Roma, so hoping for something relatively close, then leaving by train. Thinking USD $100-200, but will have to pay what the market dictates. Any suggestions are great!

Until you get some suggestions
Go to booking.com
Set your filters- price, location, needs
Read the reviews there as those can only be posted by actual guests

Or you can go to google maps and look; it will show hotels in the vicinity of Piazzale Roma and the Ferrovia, with links to the websites.

I have friends who stayed at the Abbazia which is very close to the train station and said it was fine.

You will have to cross over the new pedestrian bridge with lots of steps to go from Piazzale Roma to the train station, or use the vaporetto to ride one stop.

hey hey dfarnold
albergo marin we stayed at hotel carlton capri and walked pass albergo. chose the double room which is a ground floor room. pack light, you will cross over the ponte degli scalzi bridge from train station and down an alley way.
hotel caprera down from the train station, on rio terra lista di spagna, accessible by stairs.
atlantide hotel near train station
hotel adriatico or hotel bella epoque both near train station.
you don't cross any bridges except albergo marin. rooms are usualyy small in italy and not many lifts/elevators to climb with luggage. rating of stars are for amentities not how fancy. after check go get lost within the alleyways, always keep address of hotel with you. walk and roam around, not much time there. you can look at schezzini.it alessandro does a wine/appetizer/history tour you may be interested in. email him and he'll let you know. if looking at san marco square and rialto do after daytrippers leave, after 4 to 5 when its not that crowded. walk the back canals, enjoy the views, sit at cafe with a drink and people watch. i sat outside table at restaurant da nino across train station on grand canal with glass of prosecco and the best tiramisu watching people get off of train and watching boats up and down the canal. if you want a gondola ride, any place will do. it's 80E, set price by goverment and enjoy

Darnold,
We recently stayed at the Hotel Arlecchino, near Piazzle Roma. The hotel was about €120/night, has an elevator and great breakfast. Yes, there are 2 bridges to cross, but even with luggage, manageable.

A few of us stayed at Rosa Salva. Would recommend it. Good location, clean, modern and reasonably priced. You won't regret it.

I second Rosa Salva. We stayed there for three nights in May. Close to everything, 5 minute walk from Rialto vaporetto stop and close to San Marco; nice, helpful staff; clean, quiet room. I will stay there again.
