Hi everyone,
Looking at flying Continental Airlines to Rome this year. I just did a search and don't find any discussion about them...
Good? Bad? Ugly?

CL - good point. I have never had a problem with Alitalia - but also have not flown them since 1994...
I've flown Continental several times to Spain and find it comfortable and well-run. If you can, select a flight that uses the 767, where they seat people 2-3-2. The 777, while a newer aircraft, jams people in at 3-3-3.
I flew Continental from Newark to Rome last summer and it was fine. A 767 with individual TVs with ten or so channels and decent food/service.
I do not know personally about international flights but I did fly them domestically and they were excellent. I had no complaints. The staff were excellent and the flight was comfortable and smooth. I flew from NYC to Orlando. I will fly with them again. I wish I could tell you about flying with them to Rome but I will certaintly fly them to Italy if it is an avaiable option when I buy my tickets.
Thank you Colleen! I know they were great many years ago. Then they disappeared. I have not heard much about them since they reorganized and came back a few years ago.
I think no news is good news? My husband is flying alone this year so I want to make it as easy on him as possible.
Recent comments about various carriers on TripAdvisor website & Continental received several good reviews from travellers.
Make sure it's Continental's flight and not a code share airline. I'm pretty sure Alitalia is on their codeshare list, and if you do a quick search on this site you'll find plenty of feedback about that particular airline (I personally had no trouble with them).
We use Continental to Europe out of Newark NJ. No issues. In fact, we prefer it to some of the other options.
We went with Continental Airlines on our first trip to Europe. I thought because the price was very reasonable that they may skimp on services. To date that was our best flight with excellent service thus far. We are Canadians and have travelled with British Airways and Air Canada. They were good but I really thought the service of Continental was super.
This year we are going with Zoom Airlines. I don't know if you have that airline in the US. We leave from Toronto, Ontario. We have a direct flight to Rome, Italy with Premium seats (their First class option) $1008. each person. Canadian $$. Best I found for the quality.
Web site is www.flyzoom.com
Any info is worth a look at.
Good Luck
