Construction concerns in Rapallo?

I saw some notes on Trip Advisor that there was significant storm damage and construction/clean-up in the harbor in Rapallo about a year ago and the ferries there were not operational. I wondered if that is still in progress and if the ferries there are working.

We are looking at various options for a nice hotel (kindof like the idea of a front desk/housekeeping) in one of the seaside towns near CT but accessible to maybe also see Santa Marguerita and Portofino.

Would love feedback on any construction/rebuilding issues that may impact the area as well as recommendations for accommodations. We are traveling in April 24th with the Ligurian coast one of our destinations, along with Rome, Tuscany, and Lake Como.
Thanks!

Well, the storm damage happened prior to May, 2019 (unless there was another big storm?), since that's when I stayed over in Rapallo, and there was some stuff closed down then and there was discussion of storm damage. It didn't affect my trip at all - Rapallo was still open for business, albeit with a little construction. I am skeptical that it is still this way more than four years later. I just googled the ferry schedule (wasn't running in 2019, you're right) and it is clearly running now between Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure, etc.

I stayed in nearby Camogli on a previous trip, and it was so lovely. Rapallo was nice also, but Camogli was a little smaller and more charming. Camogli does get fewer trains stopping there, though. Santa Margherita Ligure is a nice town as well - I spent some time there during the days, would imagine it's a nice play to stay over.

I was in Rapallo on Monday. There is a huge construction project going on across the street from the small castle on the waterfront. I don’t believe it’s seriously impacting any tourist infrastructure. That said, I would definitely choose Santa Margherita Ligure or Camogli for my stay - so much calmer.
