Need to get from Lake Como to Lauterbrunnen this mid September. Train looks long and hard.
Car is not a bad option except drop fee in different country!
We have used the My Day Trip service before but never this long a connection. Anyone have a suggestion or know how to verify whether My Day Trip service would be likely reliable? Big problem if someone did not show....
There are 4 in our party so economy of auto travel helps.
Thank you!
Where on Lake Como are you departing from?

About 15 km from centre of Como into Switzerland is the town of Mendriso. Perhaps try to hire a car there.

You are going from one out of the way place to another out of the way place. Both places are separated by a huge mountain range, and a national border. Have a look at a map.
So you will need to accept that it is going to take time no matter what you do.
Como - Lauterbrunnen can be done in 5 hours, via Lugano and Luzern. And it is even a rather nice route. By car the route would be roughly the same, and would take between 4 1/2 and up to 8 hours depending on how busy traffic is.
Via Milano it can be done in 4h45, but that has not so many departures as going north.
What you also could do is cross over to Menaggio and take the bus or a taxi to Lugano. Then train from there.
Now what are your plans in Lauterbrunnen and afterwards? Asking because that way we can advise you on the best ticket.
After Lauterbrunnen we will be flying back home to Seattle
Thank you all ever so much. We are working on this and this is helping!
I've done the reverse of this several times. Just settle in and enjoy the train ride. For long hauls like this I book business or 1st for the added comfort/privacy. Of course, it is not the most economical but is more relaxing as the driver has all the burden in a car.
And remember it's an American mindset that car rental is always the answer. In Europe it usually isn't.
