Connection in Frankfurt airport with less than 1 hour

We are flying to Rome via Lufthansa airline and connecting in Frankfurt airport. 1st leg is operated by United and 2nd leg is Lufthansa. The connection time is only 45 mins.

Has anyone have experience with such a short connection time? Should I not check in my carry on as a precaution? Thanks.

You're going to struggle to make it. United had gates in Concourse B. Lufthansa has gates in Concourse A. Keep in mind, too, that "arrival time" quoted by airlines is not when you're off the plane; figure 5-10 minutes for that.
