connection from orvieto to montepulciano

Char, as I recall, there is limited bus service from the Chiusi train station to Montepulciano. Even less service on Sunday. You could take the train from Orvieto to Chiusi. Or, you can take the train from Orvieto to Siena (via a train change at Chiusi) and take the bus from Siena to Montepulciano. Note that the Siena train station and bus stop are not too close together. See www.busfox.com

I've done this. Take the train to Chiusi and then a bus to Montepulciano. Bus leaves from in front of the station - buy bus ticket at newstand inside the station. Buses are approximately timed to coordinate with the train schedule, but there can be a wait for the next bus (probably not more than half an hour). As mentioned, there are fewer buses on Sundays so wait could be longer.
