Help!
I have a flight form SFO to FCO via Virgin Atlantic and British Airways that was originally scheduled to arrive at 6 pm. I had then booked a flight to Abu Dhabi on Etihad that departed 10 pm that evening.
Virgin has changed their flight and now arrive at 7:20 pm.
I believe that I am arriving in Terminal 3 and departing out of Terminal 1.
Will I have enough time to go thru customs, etc and make the connection?

I'd say no- especially if you have luggage to retrieve and recheck. And probably not even with just carry on.
It may be a good idea to call Virgin Atlantic/British Airways and tell them about your other flight departing at 10 PM. As it stands, it's tight - an hour and twenty minutes makes a big difference. If your originating flight is running late, you're really pushing it or at a high risk of missing the other flight out.
You have a true challenge. Both of your earlier flights have to work smoothly so you do in fact arrive at 720 and then hope for a reasonably speedy processing through immigration.
And how long before departure does Etihad close boarding?
Some airlines end boarding 20-30 minutes before the scheduled departure.
