Connecting itinerary suggestions Bergamo - Bolzano/Alpe di Suisi - Venice

I need some help with figuring connecting the dots, making the best use of our time but not going too fast
I am using public transportation, arriving into Milan - BGY and getting to Bolzano or Castelrotto - then onto Venice
27 July we arrive at 12:50 to BGY, coming from Spain
My original plan is to continue traveling that day (there's a 15:50 - 18:50 bus ride from Bergamo) and stay in Bolzano on the night of the 27th, then spend 3 nights near Castelrotto, one night somewhere between Bolzano and Venice and the final 3 nights in Venice.
27 July stay in Bolzano
28 - 30 stay in Castelrotto/Alpe di Siusi
31 overnight in ?
1 Aug - 3 Aug Venice
4 Aug return to US

The only accommodations we have booked so far is Venice. This is our first time in this region.

My travel partner thinks maybe we should spend that extra night after Castelrotto in Bolzano.
Would it be better to try to stay overnight in Bergamo before going onto Bolzano - is a half-day worth it for sightseeing in Bergamo?

Bergamo Alta is quite small, so a half day there could be nice, and would mean you wouldn't spend all of one day just travelling.
Verona and Padova are both interesting and on the train line towards Venice - how are you getting from Castelrotto to Venice?
But bear in mind it could be very hot that time of the year, up in the mountains will be nice!

Bolzano is a very attractive city, and the archeological museum (with the Iceman exhibit) is excellent. But Bolzano is down in a valley, not at altitude--or rather, it's at 860 feet, which really doesn't help enough to be noticeable. Bolzano can get surprisingly hot in the summer, and quite a lot of the local hotels are not air conditioned, unless something has changed since 2015. Research the a/c situation carefully if you decide to spend a night in Bolzano.

Thank you for all your help.
We've revised our itnerary to the following

27 July stay in Bergamo
28 July Castelrotto
29 July Castelrotto
30 July Castelrotto
31 July Bolzano
1 Aug - 3 Aug Venice

Now we are looking into farmstays and accomodations in Castelrotto (starting with the RS guide recommendations). Hopefully we find something - I know they book up months in advance. Looking forward to easy-medium walks and soaking up the atmosphere.
We plan to take a train from Bolzano to Venice. Not sure if we will hop off for Verona or Padua.
We are planning to book the Youth Hostel in Bolzano. No mention of AC, think we can brave it for a night. We did double check that the Utzi museum is open Monday for our day in Bolzano.

Thank you all for your help. I would appreciate any other tips for these places.
