Connecting Flights in Rome

We will be flying from JFK to Rome on ITA this spring and connecting to another ITA flight to Naples. We are wondering if we will be going through Passport Control only in Rome and then Italian Customs at the Naples Airport. We have 2+ hours between our flights so we hope there is sufficient time to get from the ITA international terminal to the ITA domestic terminal.
Since we are taking two ITA flights (on the same ticket), we assume our checked bags will go through to Naples so we wouldn't go through Customs until after landing in Naples and retrieving our luggage.

Does anyone have experience in making similar connections in Rome and with ITA?
Thank you in advance for your insights!

Passport control will be in Rome.
Luggage will go to Naples. You don’t need to retrieve in Rome.
Customs in NAP will be a walk through the green “nothing to declare” line.
Customs officers may randomly stop some people and check their bags but it has never happened to me in well over 50 entries into Italy.
FCO is a very large airport but two hours are sufficient. If, due to a major delay, you miss the flight to NAP, ITA will put you on the next flight, although there are only 3 or maybe 4 flights a day, so it could be a long wait.
