connecting flights in Rome

We are flying into Rome from the US on Delta in June. If the flight gets in at 7:30 am is there enough time to catch a connecting flight on Alitalia to Turin at 9am? Are they in the same terminal? Carry on luggage only.

Is this one through ticket or two separate bookings?

If it is one booking, you are covered, the airline guarantees the connection and worst case puts you on the next flight.
If it is two separate bookings, hard luck. Things that could go wrong include your first flight being late, either flight being re-timed the wrong way between now and June.
You will have to go through immigration (passport control) in Rome, that takes time, possibly 1 hour.
If it is two bookings, can you check in for the second flight online before you leave home, or do you have to do that in Rome?
And what is Alitalia's minimum check in time / minimum time when you need to be at the gate?

Thank for the quick response. It’s would be 2 bookings so I guess I need to build in more time or rethink this

If your plane gets in early, as what happened to me, go to the Alitalia desk and see if they’ll allow you to take the earlier flight. I flew Delta not expecting to be able to get my preferred Alitalia flight to Catania. So, I booked one 2 1/2 hours later. Thanks to a tailwind we arrived early so I went to the Alitalia counter and they put me on the earlier flight. It doesn’t hurt to ask.

Presumably you are looking at 2 bookings due to cost savings ( nothing wrong in trying to save $$). Look at what sort of connection times Delta builds in on their 'one ticket' solution for whatever your origin is to Turin. That should give you a good idea of what your should look at as a minimum in booking separate tickets.( And I would add at least an hour if booking separate tickets) DooDoo happens and usually at the most inconvenient time

Your peace of mind has value as well. I know I would not want to be spending the next 5 months wondering 'will I make it?'

Have you checked out the trains? It looks like there are trains ( without changes) that take 4.5 -5 hrs and walk up fare is around $100

When we flew Delta to FCO last year, with a transfer to an Alitalia flight, there was an special passport control for transiting passengers. No line, although the helpful guide sending people there had to discreetly wake up the officer. Our flights were on one ticket, but nobody asked or looked at our tickets.

To add to Stan's comment. If either:
a) You have bags to pick up and check in again for the 2nd flight.
b) You haven't got your boarding and have to go to check-into get it.
Then Stan's shortcut for connecting flights will not work. You need to go through the normal passport control and exit into the public area.

I'm flying into Rome and getting a connecting flight to Venice.
I know that my arrival terminal is for international flights and my departure terminal is for domestic flights. I'd assume it's the same for you.
So you have a bit of distance to hustle, if it is even possible.
