I would like to go ahead and buy the Firenze card, but will I then be able to make specific time reservations for the Accademia and Uffizi? How does this work? Thanks for your help.
If you're not visiting much beyond the Accademia and Uffizzi, then the separate, reserved tickets are cheaper. If you have the card, you skip the ticket-buying line and use the same entrance as reserved ticket-holders, but there still can be some wait time, since a limited number of people are allowed to enter at one time.
We bought Academia and Uffizi tickets at www.Viator.com with tour and "skip the line" options. It was a great time saving move and we enjoyed it. Just do not book it after 3pm, because Uffizi closed early at 5, or 6pm, and you will not have enough time to explore it. We were there in July 2012, so something could have changed.
The hotel where we will be staying is going to make reservations for us. We are supposed to show up 30 minutes before to pay for our tickets with our reservation code. Since we have reservation, we won't have to wait in line.
