Confusing Roma Pass Coloseum

I purchased two of these:

RESERVATION ROMA PASS 48H WITH ENTRANCE
individuals or groups entrance
pdf not available - pick up at ticket office located under the temple of Venus and Rome (Arco di Tito) 34.00€

Does this include access to the Forum and Palatine Hil? It does not specify in confirmation email. And I chose a time to visit coloseum. I was not given the option to print at home. I received an email confirmation with booking code. What is a PNR? It says I need one. I was not sent a QR code or anything

I also heard it is not guaranteed I get a ticket. My slot is for a Sunday at 1:30PM. Is there is a chance I get to the office at Arco di Tito and they are sold out for the day? Can/should I pick it up a day before?

Now I am hearing some have booked these options as well.. if I booked the above, do I need to book any of these too?

*REDUCED TICKET FOR ROMA PASS HOLDERS
Reduced ticket for Roma Pass holders 11.50€

RESERVATION OF ADMISSION FOR ROMA PASS HOLDERS
seats reserved for Roma Pass holders 2.00€*

Hey OP -

Did you by chance purchase these through the CoopCulture website?

We just got back and I bought our 4 passes through CoopCulture as it was the only way we could get Colosseo tickets of any kind. I'd be happy to share our experience - it was very confusing and I had a hard time getting clarification even after emailing them.

I booked a timed entry through CoopCulture for the Colosseo AND bought the Roma Pass from them at the same time in the same transaction. Is this what you did?

If so, our experience would be relevant.

As far as I know, yes it does. The only ticket I know of that does NOT include those two is the "Colosseum by Night" ticket.

I also heard it is not guaranteed I get a ticket. My slot is for a
Sunday at 1:30PM.

If you purchased your ticket through Coopculture, I've not heard that there is any risk of not getting one. This is especially true if you successfully purchased one online for a specified time slot, which you have. Be careful with what you are "hearing" as not everyone is purchasing their tickets through the same vendors or for the same products.

I've no idea if you can pick up your tickets the day before but I'm guessing not. Follow the instructions you were given. I also don't think you need to pay attention to reduced or free tickets UNLESS you are traveling with individuals who qualify for those.

Hello kmzizzle -

I did exactly what you did. Made the purchase, received an email that confirmed the purchase but did not really provide any further instructions on where to go/what to do. If memory serves there was a PNR code on there - it's a multi-digit code that you will use as reference to pick up the tickets AND the Roma Pass.

I too emailed the RomaPass people trying to sort out where I had to pick up the pass. It sounded to me that I had to get the Pass first, so I would have the pass to show the Colosseo folks to get the tickets. The response I received from RomaPass was kind, but a cut and paste of the FAQ section from their website, which suggests that you go to a RomaPass TI to pick up the pass.

The morning of our visit, we went to the TI closest to the Colosseum. Arrived to be told that we could NOT pick up the RomaPass at the TI. {This is what the directions from RomaPass said - pick up the pass at the TI - so ignore that if yours says the same). We were to report to the Colosseo "because you bought it through the Colosseo". So we literally ran there, saw the hundreds of people in line and panicked. I put my family in the line, walked up to the attendant near the front and showed her my email, and she put me in a separate line to the same ticket windows. It was the only way humanly possible to make our allotted entry time, but the couple in front of me also had a RomaPass so maybe this is the protocol. There was no signage to know whether this was a kindness because the attendant saw the tears welling and the pure panic, or if this is just how it's done. Probably the latter, but she was super kind.

Long story short - this colosseo entrance was the most stressful aspect of the trip - during planning and on the ground in country - without a close second. It was a nightmare to get the tickets, and I felt like we were on a wing and a prayer to actually collect them. Once in hand, it was slick and super easy.

My advice: go directly to Colosseo and show the attendant manning the line for biglietti your confirmation email. The ticket booth representative pulled the PNR off of the email (on my phone) and pulled up the reserved entry, doled out the passes and on we went.

I did save all emails confirming tickets (and the tickets themselves when I had them) on a file on my phone so a weak signal/no data is irrelevant. I also sent backups to every family member so we had four sets to lose. Worked out great. Only one phone was stolen in Rome!

Enjoy your trip!!

Wowzah. Thanks for the color and sorry about the phone! I booked a tour instead also of all the confusion (which has free cancellation), as I’ve heard how confusing this can all be, and my times were going to be in very hot hot weather vs an early morning tour I found. So yes I may end up eating the $50 in Roma Pass fees or whatever, but oh well. Appreciate the info and hopefully my trip will go smoothly no matter which way I decide
