I have two websites FIRENZE MVSEI and ABOUT FLORENCE. The MVSEI site gives me entrance hours from about 12:00pm to 4:15pm. Now the other one gives me entrance all day at a higher price. They both have reservations and entrance included. What's the deal with the MVSEI hours all year round? Has anyone used any of these two services? And were the reservations honored?
the first is the official site the second is a broker. you may ask your hotel to assist you with reservations. contact the hotel via email andsee if they can assist. have your preferrred date and time
As far as I know as how the system works, the Firenze Musei sells directly a certain amount of tickets for each time frame and it allots another number to its resellers (brokers). Sometimes certain times will show no tickets on the Firenze Musei site but then you'll find them available for that same time at another site, and this is the reason. So if you're not tied to a certain time, buying from the Firenze Musei site will generally cost several euros less. But if you really have no flexibility as to date or time, then I'd go ahead and get some on another website that shows them as available. As official resellers, the tickets bought on other sites are valid. The hours of Florence museums are generally from 8.15am, up until 45 minutes before closing. If you're only seeing tickets from about 12 noon to 4.15pm, it means the Firenze Musei already sold out its tickets for the morning.
If you call the number and make reservations over the phone, there are more times available than online. You also pay nothing until you pick up your tickets which can be a bonus for those times when things happen and you just can't make your reservation time.
Here is a link to a PDF file with all official museum and church hours in Florence - I found this on one of the official tourism sites a while back - everyone should download and print this prior to traveling to Florence: http://www.florence-journal.com/florence/2010/10/florence-museum-monument-church-hours-prices.html
