Confused about Colosseum tours/tickets

I'm pretty baffled about several issues re the Colosseum and Underground tours.
I'm planning to get a Roma Pass, which I will use for free entry to the Col/Forum/Palatine Hill
I also plan to take the Colosseum underground tour. First question is I've seen several references in the past to an evening tour but can't find that on the coopculture website. Is that a private tour? Is there an evening tour of the main Colosseum?
Second, how do I link up the timing and tickets for the Colosseum visit and the Underground? Should I do the Colosseum first, then get to my scheduled Underground tour? Do I have to do anything differently in my Underground reservation because I will be using a Roma Pass for the Colosseum?
Finally, I'm thinking of doing a private tour of one or both. Who pays for admission if I do that? Any recommendations on the best tour company?
Any and all information and recommendations would be appreciated.

Hello Theresa, I too have reservations for the Underground tour. From what I was told over the phone, the person that helped me told me to arrive 20 minutes before the tour started with my reservation number at the main entrance. I will also have the Roma Pass but still had to pay the difference for the tour. Hope that helps.

As for the evening tour and private tour companies, I don't really know much about them but I'm sure someone else will be able to help you on here. Good luck and have fun.

If you have the romapass all you need to do is call to book the underground tour. It's not included with the pass. If you haven't booked the underground tour yet, you should as it's very popular and sells out weeks in advance.

There are night visits to the colosseum through Novermber 1rst. These are a special ticket and don't include entry to the forum or palatine hill. You get to visit the underground but not the third tier. Also, it's a special event so you cannot use the romapass for night entry.

The romapass is your ticket to the colosseum. If you want to visit the colosseum before your underground tour you can. Just show up and check in for the tour, then use the pass for entry. You can stay as long as you wish after the tour. When booking the tour just let the operator know that you'll be using the pass for entry and she'll just charge you the 9 euros each for the tour. Print out your confirmation email (phonetically spell it so they get it correct. Example: C for colosseo, T for Tivoli....) and bring it with you to the box office. The guard at the front of the lines will direct you where to go to check in for the tour.

There is no need to do both the daylight and nighttime tours. The information is the same. There is also no reason to hire a private company to do this, especially if you have the romapass. Just book the official tour. They only take between 12-15 people on the underground tour and the information is great.
