We are flying from Seattle to Venice in September and looking at the Rick Steves bag sale for an under seat carryon. The Condor website says their rule is 15.78” x 11.8” x 3.93”
That is only 4” deep! Is that possible! You can barely get a briefcase in that spot, let alone a backpack! Any suggestions other than starting over with another airline? I already paid over $100 to select my seat.
HI Arlene
Do you know what fare you booked? Condor's luggage allowance will depend on the fare. If the fare is Economy Zero, it allows only a personal item, which would be a purse or very small backpack (40"x30"x10'). If it's Economy Classic or more, you'll have a standard carry-on bag and a personal item for free. (More here https://www.condor.com/us/flight-preparation/baggage-and-animals/carry-on.jsp). For what it's worth, we travelled last year to Oregon on that kind of bare bones ticket with a week's worth of clothes squeezed into a compression bag inside a tiny backpack. It worked-- just. We liked the challenge (and the fare!) But we probably wouldn't do a week in Europe with that.
Hope that helps.

I believe the dimensions should be in cm and not inches.
Also, where do you put your feet?
Condor's personal item dimensions are 40 x 30 x 10 cm. I used a Fjalraven Kanken 15" (yes, inches) laptop bag whose dimensions are 36 x 26 x 17 cm. So approximately 3 inches too thick. If you don't stuff the bag or don't put anything in the outside little pocket you will be fine. At least I was. And I had an ipad, phone, Bose over the ears headphones, all the charging cables and all of my toiletries plus various paper copies of tickets, etc. I got mine used from the REI garage sale. You can also get them online at the Fjalraven used website.
