Concerned about B&B in Rome... what to do?

I booked a highly recommended B&B for our trip, on trip advisor in February. I have emailed the owner 3 times this month to confirm our stay from September 7-12, 2011. I have not heard back.
Should I be worried? It's getting close, and most (if not all) similarly priced places have booked up.

Many Italians take their own vacation in August (this week was a big holiday on August 15) and if it is a small B&B the person who might typically check and respond to emails written in English may be out on vacation. I would not get too stressed, but if it is bothering you then pick up the telephone and make a call during their regular daytime business hours to reconfirm your reservation and ask them to email you something that you can print and bring with you in case you encounter a problem at check-in.

I wanted to second Ceidleh's recommendation to call, you are more likely to get a quick response from them by calling. And as she mentioned, keep the time zones in mind.

Based on several years of B&B stays in Europe, if you booked directly with the B&B and got a confirmation from them at the time of booking, you'll be fine. If you booked through a third party, definitely double-check. A phone call is the best idea, but if the owners are away on vacation it may just ring and ring.

I have to agree with everyone, the owners are probably on their own vacation and will get back to you when they return. If you already have a confirmation you should be fine but if it would make you feel better I would wait a few more days then email them again. Donna
