Computers in Italy

We were thinking of taking our laptop to Italy for our 16 day trip. Does anyone know if it would be safe to leave it in the hotel room while we are out for the day? Are there many internet cafes? Any words of advice?

I would leave the laptop at home. Thieves love laptops. I would be concerned for the laptop while traveling, not leaving it in the room. A simple lock would keep the laptop safe in your room.

There are internet cafes throughout the main cities. The internet cafes can also download your pictures on to a disc.

Leave the laptop at home. It is not worth the worry of it disappearing. As others stated internet access is available most everywhere now.

I would leave the laptop home as well. There are many inexpensive internet cafes and many hotels have a computer guests can use. We found this the case on our trip to Italy a few years ago so I am sure it's even better now. It would be nice to have the laptop but travelling light is more important.

Leave it at home. If you don't really need it, it's just a hassle. You are sure to find an internet cafe near your hotel if your hotel doesn't have a computer you could use.

There are many internet cafes. When you go, be sure to bring your passport bcuz Italian law now requires that one be shown and registered prior to foreigners being allowed to use internet.
