Compare and Contrast: Two Tours, Doge's Palace in Venice

I have read many comments about the "Secret Itineraries" tour of the Doge's Palace but noticed on the Museum website a "new" (since April 2015) tour called "Hidden Doge's Treasure." From the limited info on the site, both tours seem to last about the same amount of time and cost the same. Given this, does anyone have an idea why one would choose one over the other (if one were to only do one of the two)? Help!

I took the Secret Itineraries tour 3-4 years ago. It takes you to parts of the Palace that are not accessible otherwise, the upper levels and under the roof. I loved it. The stories and history were fascinating. I went in February and it was freezing cold, in summer it is swelteringly hot.

I reviews of the new tour on tripadvisor.com. It sounds like a guided tour of parts of the Palace that you can also visit on your own. The reviewers were very positive. Some said that the only way cross the Bridge of Sighs and to view the dungeons was on a tour. If that's true, it's new. I saw them in 2008 and it was open to all Palace visitors.

We crossed the Bridge of Sighs (and its huge bottleneck of tour groups) to the prison in July, we did it on our own after the secret itineraries tour.

We did not take a tour for the Doge's Palace but did rent their headsets, and easily crossed the Bridge of Sighs in late April.
