I am trying to decide between the Lancelot Hotel near the Colosseum and the Arch Rome Suites by the Pantheon. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Also any restaurant recommendations near these would also be most helpful. Thx, Jim S. Chicago
This doesn't exactly answer your questions as I haven't stayed at either but we have friends who stayed at Lancelot Hotel and liked it very much. For me, it seems a little far away from the central part of the city - between the two, Arch Rome Suites might a better location and they are highly rated - but that's one opinion.
We were in Rome last September and liked the central location of Hotel Smeraldo near Campo di Fiori.
Thx. BTW do u have any restaurant recommendations around Campo di Fiori?
We walked from Campo di Fiori to the Trastevere neighborhood for dinner several evenings. I’d suggest checking the locations, photos, and reviews on Google Maps to see what appeals to you. We found that it was essential to make a reservation.
For a casual lunch, check out the Testaccio Market (though not in the neighborhood) - there are many delicious items to try!
Have a great time in Rome!
I stayed at the Lancelot in late April; solo, felt very comfortable in the neighborhood, plenty of restaurants, 15 minute walk to Colosseum or Manzoni metro stations. The staff was excellent & very helpful, hotel & room very clean & charming, plentiful & varied breakfast included. My 6th floor room faced the front and there is a hotel across the street with a rooftop bar, so earplugs were necessary until things quieted down. I did knowingly compromise on 2 things that are important to me; they do not have a mini refrigerator or coffee maker in the room. It wasn’t a total deal breaker but I do like having them.
