We are traveling by train in April from Florence to Sorrento via Naples. Has anyone used the Campania Express train from Naples to Sorrento (Napoli Porta Nolana/Garibaldi - Sorrento route)? Would you recommend taking a taxi or walking from Napoli Centrale Station to Napoli Porta Nolana? Any tips would be welcomed!
Just curious why you'd go to Napoli Porta Nolana? The Garibaldi Circumvesuviana Campania Express stop is connected to Napoli Centrale, where your "fast" train from Florence will be booked to arrive? It would be an easy transfer on foot from one train to the other; you don't even have to go outside.

One caution: the Campania Express only runs 4 times a day so you can have a long wait at Centrale if your Trenitalia or Italo and Express schedules don't mesh well.
The Campania Express is the tourist train that uses same track as Circumvesuviana
It’s just downstairs from where you will get off train from Florence
As Kathy says, it is seasonal with limited schedule
If timing doesn’t work just take the Circumvesuviana
No need to purchase tix in advance
Historically, the standard commuter train Circumvesuviana has punishing crowds and no luggage racks. If the Campania Express is running on your day, it would be pleasanter to use, and much cheaper than (say) a black-car transfer. Advance-purchase Frecciarossa tickets on the long-distance part are much faster, but tend to be non-changeable, non-cancellable. Don't know offhand if the Florence-Rome section has Frecciarossa available.
The Naples train station is very modern, and has escalators to get down to the Sorrento tracks. Also on that lower level, paid toilets, but in the opposite direction from the Circumvesuviana.
