In May, we're doing 2 days each in Milan, Lake Como, Cinque Terre and Florence. Considering a day trip to Lugano, Switerzerland while in Como. Any advice on: a) is it worth the trip?
b) is there a train or bus you would recommend? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Lugano is a neat town and worth a day trip. We had our hotel staff work out the logistics for. We stayed at the Albergo Milano in Varenna and they gae us teh timetables and exactly where to catch the bus. We took the ferry across the lake to Mennagio. From there, we took a direct bus into Lugano. For the return trip, we took a train to Como, took the funicular to the top of the hill, and took a fast boat back to Varenna. It was a long day trip, but we saw a lot of neat places.
