Como to Bellagio

We will be going down to Como S Giovanni from Basel, Switzerland in one day. We would like to stay in Bellagio. Our train arrives at 4:15 PM at the Como station. Does anyone know how long it will take to get to the ferry, ride the ferry and get to Bellagio. I have seen some confusing ferry info but can find nothing on the hydrofoil (fast ferry). Thanks.

Shari, We were in Como last September and it took about 45 minutes on the ferry to go from Como to Bellagio. Bellagio is so stunningly beautiful, you are going to love it! The Como train station is rather difficult, in that when you get off of the train you have to walk quite a distance over rough coble stone that luggage does not want to roll over. Then you have to go down about 20 stairs with all of your luggage and then up about 20 stairs with all of your luggage. So keep that in mind. Have a wonderful time! I wish I could go too!

Thanks Debbie - I got one PM saying it was not worth the trip so you make me feel better. We are lucky because we can leave some luggage at my cousins in Switzerland and she will meet us with it at their vacation house on Lake Maggiore before we travel onto Nice. We will just have one bag and my camera stuff. Thanks again. Love this site for info.

We were on the fast ferry/hydrofoil last summer and it took about 45 minutes from Como to Menaggio, which is right across from Bellagio. There is a website www.navigazionelaghi.it for boat travel around the lakes. We have gone to the Menaggio/Bellagio area for the past four years at the end of our travels as it is a great place to unwind. We usually rent a flat for a few days and live the life. The little towns are so quaint, you can hike, sit in the square or catch a mideviel parade in the hills. We have gone to Bellaggio for lunch a few times via ferry from Menaggio and it is beautiful. You can go anywhere around the lake and never be disappointed with its beauty! Where can you go and see water, mountains and palm trees! Ciao, ciao.
