Como Hotels- Opinions please

Andrea, I haven't stayed at any of those properties, so can't offer any advice (I stay in Varenna). Are any of these listed in Rick's Guidebook (or other Guidebooks)? You could also check sites like tripadvisor to see comments from other travellers.

No, he doesn't include the actual town of Como- just the close villages. Ive been to Como once and for this being the first trip Ive ever planned on my own I knew I wanted to go somewhere I am slightly familiar with. I have looked on Trip Advisor, just trying to see if some of Rick's fans have tried them. For some reason I trust yall way more than the average traveler... Thanks anyways :)

I'd have to check my Italy book (not with me at the moment), but I believe Rick has a few Hotel listings for Como. See if you can find a copy at your local bookstore or Libary.

For visits to Lago di Como, I like to stay in Varenna. It's a convenient location for touring other locations in the area, such as Bellagio (an easy 15 minute ride from the boat dock in front of Albergo Olivedo). Varenna is also has good rail connections (about one hour to Milan).

I'm traveling to that area soon as well. Does anyone have a favorite? Bellagio, Varenna, or Menaggio? I'm leaning towards Varenna.

Varenna is very convenient if you are arriving by train. It is a nice town with wonderful views and much charm. Bellagio is great for shopping and has more restaurant choices but Varenna is still my choice for accomodations.
