I have decided to go to Lake Como. I have been to other lakes and not this one. Can any of you recommend something special there that might be off the grid possibly by a hike or ferry? Possibly an activity you did that was so much fun that you can give me a name or place? I am traveling alone and want to make the most of my time there. I have been to Italy many times and would love to do something more local.
thanks for your help.
Take a ferry to Lenno and walk to Villa Balbaniello. You can skip going in the Villa and just enjoy the beautiful views!
Stay mid lake as the scenery in that area is the best!
Take the cable car in Argegno up to Pigra. It is a fabulous view from one of the highest points overlooking the
Lake
I agree with what Suki said. However, take the very inexpensive motorboat back from the Villa, which yields great views of the Villa from the water. ( You can take the motor book to the Villa if you don't feel like walking from the ferry dock.) I actually thought the tour of the inside of the Villa was quite interesting.
I haven't done what Margie describes, but now it's on my bucket list for my next trip.
We love Lake Como, and have been there twice, intending to return. Our favorite lodging is Hotel du Lac in Varenna- wonderful lake views!
Safe travels!
Orrido di Bellano or hike to the top of the falls at Fiumelatte.
Thank you all heartfully!
