Como Beach Clubs?

Hello!

My 15 year old daughter and I will be in Milan June 19-22. It looks like the weather might switch from pleasant to extremely hot by that time, so I am looking at a day trip (probably Sunday the 21st) to a lake and buying tickets for a beach club. We are staying at the Hilton Milan, which is close to Milan Centrale, and could leave fairly early in the morning. The two options I've found that are easy to book online and seem easy to reach are:

  • Lido di Faggeto Miamilaryo
  • Lido di Moltrasio

We'd like to be able to swim in the lake, and bonus points if the surrounding town is cute and worth a walk through. Has anyone been to either of these beach clubs or towns, or have better recommendations? I am not set on Como, it just appears to be the closest lake with beach clubs. We went to Lake Garda a few years ago and loved it, but have not been to any of the other lakes.

Thank you for any input/suggestions!

I know only the beach at Mandello, but I was there over 40 years ago. I'm not too fond of swimming on lakes. The bottom is rocks and pebbles everywhere. It was ok, but they can call a Lido Miami(Lario) as much as they like but not the Caribbean or Florida for sure.
If swimming is a must for your daughter, maybe you might consider going to a pool in Milan. Bagni Misteriosi, a restored lido, or also the Milanosport-Romano Center are popular. They are in the city and near the city center. Whether you go to the lake or to the beach, on a Sunday is going to be packed if really hot.

I am adding our experience with a beach club in case it's helpful for anyone searching!
Getting there:
I ended up booking the Lido di Faggeto Miamilaryo. I wanted a place I could book online in advance that was reachable by taxi/bus and not ferry. We took a train around 8am (on 6/21) from Milano Centrale to Como S. Giovanni. It wasn't that crowded and was very easy. Right outside the train station there were buses, but not the one I wanted (the 130 I think) and google maps said the 130 wouldn't arrive for an hour, so we took a 65 euro taxi to the beach club (about a 25 minute ride). In hindsight I should have asked around about the bus because google was not necessarily accurate. That was a silly price to pay, but would be reasonable if you were with 2-3 friends. Coming back we walked from the beach up a hill to the main road and caught the bus for 6 euros (for 2 people) around 2pm. It did not arrive when google said it would and the time tables wouldn't load on our phones so we were happy to catch it without waiting for too long. It was empty, but the buses coming from town were packed - standing room only.

The beach club:
It was lovely and had a great little swimming area. It is not very big and most people were Italian families with children. There is no service at the chairs, but you can order drinks at a counter and/or reserve a spot in the outdoor dining area for lunch. It is a very scenic spot and fairly quiet. I was really glad we made the effort to go there. The food was fine, but not a reason to go. There was no town in this area - just hotels and houses. There were changing rooms so we could get out of our bathing suits before leaving. The walk back up to the main street was quite steep and in the sun, which you can't tell on a map.

When we got into Como we walked around and shopped and really enjoyed it. I expected crazy crowds because it was Sunday, but it wasn't that crowded. The train back to Milan also wasn't that crowded. We had been in Nice before this and the day tripping crowd from Nice to Monaco was insane, but I did not find that going to/from Como.

Overall it was well worth the trip - swimming in the lake was perfect on a hot day and the town of Como is really cute and worth seeing.
