Commuting and Bookings in Sorrento!

Hello! I will be visiting Sorrento at the end of this month and would like to know about making advance reservations for the following:
Pompeii Visit
Mt. Vesuvius ticket for the crater
Museo Vesuvius
Blue Grotto Boat
I would like some information regarding booking information and transportation from
Sorrento-Pompeii
Pompeii-Vesuvius
Sorrento-Capri
Sorrento-Amalfi Coast

Also, there is a Campani Arte Card and I was wondering if it covers any of my above sites and transportation for the same.

Thanks a lot!

Pal -

We used the Campania Arte card the last time we were in Naples/Sorrento/Paestum. I did a little research on the website to see what card worked in the places we were going and compared the individual prices. I think we ended up using the card for most everything and then paid for one place individually because it didn't fit well into the days of the card. We didn't buy it online - we purchased it on at the Naples Centrale station.

Here's the website: www.campaniartecard.it/EN/Home.cfm

Previous posts about the Arte Card cautioned that the first 2 included sites you visit are the free ones. You don't get to pick and choose. Plan accordingly.

In reference to your question about advance reservations for sites, I know that you can't make advance reservations for admittance to Pompeii or Vesuvius. You can arrange for a private tour of Pompeii, but there's no "advance ticket skip the line" option for Pompeii. From my understanding (wishful thinking?), there really isn't a wait to enter Pompeii.

Frank is correct for the two types of cards that include transportation. There is also a 7 day card that includes one entrance to each site but does not include transportation. We saved a lot because we went to several sites within 7 days of activating the card.

The website is a little confusing at first, but there is a brochure that is in both Italian and English that compares all the different cards. In all, I believe there are 4 different kinds of cards for both adults and those 18-25...

Hello,
We are going to leave for Italy in a few days and have made most of our reservations. However, we don't have enough information about the Blue Grotto Boat and Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius.

-Do we need to book the boat in advance? If so then where can we book this? Can we use the Campani Arte Card for this?
-For Mt.Vesuvius: I know you mentioned not needing to book it in advance, but I only have a specific day I can go there, so would it be possible to book it in advance and where?

Thanks a lot!

It's not that you don't need to make reservations for Vesuvius and Pompeii. There is no way to do so. (If there were, I would have!)

You can arrange for a guide to take you through Pompeii, but that has nothing to do with admission. And, Vesuvius is already with a mandatory guide.

Have a great trip!

If you decide to use a private guide for Pompeii, try to get Gaetano Manfredi. His 2 hour tour is very informative and entertaining. Rick's tours use him as a local guide for Pompeii. Gaetano's contact information is in Rick's Italy guidebook.
