Coming off a cruise in Venice

Contemplating staying 2 days in Venice after a cruise. What highlights should I hit or avoid? April 2022 timeframe Any suggestions on a quieter area to stay in? Prefer boutique smaller accomodations.

Piazza San Marco, the Basilica, Doge's Palace, Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal are some famous highlights. My favorite part of Venice is just wandering around. Lot's of lodging choices.

Here's where we stayed pre-cruise a couple of years ago. https://alpontemocenigo.com/ Its far enough from the tourist crowd to be quiet, but close enough to walk there in 15 minutes. Also a 2 minute walk from a Vaporetto stop. As mentioned above, the beauty of Venice for me was just walking and getting lost (you will get lost). I think St Mark's Square, Doges Palace are both worth seeing, but time your visit for before 10am or after 4pm to miss the crowds. Also loved loved loved Burano.

I would recommend that you extend your stay to at least four days, or more, if you can....there is SO much to see.
You will thank me..... ;)

Please reconsider. Four days in Venice and you can really sample the richness of the town and maybe Murano and Burano Islands (both worth seeing). Rick's "Venice" book is a good place to start (I did not receive a kick back to make this recommendation). Remember it will be a walking tour for the most part. Most of the "must see" sites will be very crowded, so get tickets for the hot tourist sites on line before you go. At all cost be sure to avoid the tourist restaurants. Pay careful attention to this topic in Rick's "Venice" book. There are some quite areas of Venice, and lots of great places to eat in Venice. There are also lots of places you need to avoid as tourist traps. Enjoy!
