Coming back to Europe from USA

Hello! I will be flying from the USA to Venice, Italy and I will have a layover in Istanbul. I’m an Italian citizen and it’s my first time coming back from an international flight so I was wondering how the process is gonna be! I have a very tight layover and when I was coming to the USA I almost lost my flight because I didn’t knew I had another security check in Istanbul before boarding for the USA, so I was wondering if I will have to go through customs or anything other than the second security check.

You shouldn't have to go through customs until you get to your final destination, unless things have changed in the past year or so. You might want to call your airline to ask them. Or if you can't do that, definitely ask one of the flight attendants on board. They may have an answer for you.

After I wrote the above words, I went to the Istanbul airport's website and found this page -https://www.istairport.com/en/passenger/flight/important-information/security-and-baggage. So I would suggest when you get off the plane for your layover, ask someone when you get off where you should go for the security check (or just follow the other passengers since it looks like everyone has to go through that). I have a vague memory of it when I flew to Istanbul 15 years ago, but don't remember much of it.

I just saw that the airport has an app, which might be helpful to you. You can find the download information at this site - https://www.istairport.com/en/announcements/istanbulairport-mobile-application-released.

And lastly, you also may want to post your question in the Turkey forum as well.
