Colosseum with tour company or using Roma Pass?

Our family arrives at Rome Termini mid-day in June and we would like to go directly to the Colosseum. We have Rick's app and could do the walking tour with a Roma Pass, or there is a Walks of Italy tour that offers a guided tour at 3:15 using the Gladiator Gate as the entrance, which sounds kind of cool (esp. for my son who is 12). Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Kristin, are you arriving from another location in Italy or will you be coming off an international flight? I see that you're doing Venice and Florence (?) as well but don't know what your city of arrival is. It makes a difference as you don't want book tours for arrival day in case of a delayed or cancelled flight. Hopefully you're coming from Florence or Venice?

Ah, that's good!

I guess it comes down to how much you're willing to spend and how much good you want to get out of your Roma Pass? WOI is a very highly respected company so I'm sure you'll get a great Colosseum tour, and you will be escorted to areas you can't access on your own. That one also appears to cover some guided narration at the Forum and Palatine as well, which can be useful for understanding the context of ruins there.

It would cancel out benefit of using the pass for Colosseum/Forum/Palatine entry. You will also be paying a $62.22 tour price for your son whereas his visit will be free if just using using Rick's app.

Not sure what else you're planning to visit in Rome with your passes but maybe that doesn't matter to you?

** we would like to go directly to the Colosseum.**

What do you plan to do with your luggage? There is no storage for luggage at the colosseum. It would be better to stop at your hotel to drop your bags.

Unless Walks of Italy gives you a discount for having the romapass it probably won't make sense to get one. You should check with them first to see about the discount and if not, do the math to see if the other sites you wish to see make the pass worth while.

We purchased online our Combo tickets for the Forum and the Colosseum. However the site your book suggested at "www.coopulture.it" only sent us an email with the purchase order number but did not give us an option to print the tickets.
How do we go about obtaining our tickets?
