We did the third ring/ underground tour thiis afternoon ( it was great). I had been following the various discussions here and on trip advisor on the lines, etc. for a while before our trip. Based on those, i was expecting a quick line for security, maybe 5 to 10 minutes. It was 40 minutes. I had thought i was being overly cautious getting there 45 minutes early, but we almost missed our tour. The line for those w/o tickets or reservations was much longer. So allow more time than you might expect for a "skip the line" reservation. This was around noon, and I would expect a much faster line early in the day. The security check was cursory, we only had to open our bags, the bags were 12" x 12" x 4" and size wasnt a problem.

I did the tour in May. The security line was approx 30-35 min. I think either the booking or the website (can't remember where I read it) says to arrive at least 30 min before tour to allow for security line. That is cutting it fine. 45 min would be safer.

Most people arrive about 30 minutes prior to their tour which means you have lots of people arriving at the same time. It's always better to get there much earlier to avoid these back-ups. I always try to get there between 45 and 60 minutes early just to avoid these types of delays.
