Colosseum underground tour booking

I am ready to book the underground tour for a specific date and time in May and can get to the right tour through Omniticket.it, but I can't confirm that the tour will be in English as the basic tour indicates. Suggestions please.

If it says "underground tour" it will be in English. The other underground tours are written in the language they will be preformed in. Donna

I am on the same site to book the Colosseum, but I am only seeing the ticket, at 13 euros, for the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill. Where am I missing the underground tour ??

I too am not seeing the link for the Underground Tour, also elsewhere some people were saying you can't book the underground tour online. Is Omniticket.it the best way to go? thx Jeff

omniticket is the official seller of the underground tour. Follow this link http://www.coopculture.it/en/ticket.cfm?office=Colosseo&id=2 click on "BUY single", agree to the terms, select your dates and all the tickets and tours will show up. There are no tours listed for after September yet. The underground tour in English will be written in English/. Donna

No, the tour is mandatory. For both the underground and the upper tier parts of the tour the guide has to unlock access gates.

Not if you don't take the tour. You can do the regular tour and still get most of the same information, though you won't go underground or to the third tier on the regular tour. Donna

Hey all, Have any of you had experience with purchasing the Underground tour in conjunction with a Roma Pass? How exactly would this work? I thought I read that you have to call, but is it possible to do over email as well? Do you just tell them you plan to use the Roma Pass and then they setup the reservation for you? And do you pay when you're there, or do you have to pay over the phone or online? Does it make more sense just to buy the Roma Pass when I'm there?

The only way to book the underground tour if using the romapass is to call. Tou cannot do it online or by email. When they ask for an address they mean an email address to send the confirmation to. If you go to the Rome forums on TA their top questions has a link to all the answers about the underground tour and how to book under many different circumstances. Donna

I booked and paid for the underground Colosseum underground tour for Saturday but read that there's street entertainment on Sundays that would be nice to see in the area. Was wondering if it's possible to reschedule and move the tour to Sunday. I thought I heard them mention that there are "no changes" but just wanted to be sure. Sunday, I was originally planning to do Borghese, but am wondering if I should have just done Borghese on Saturday and the Colosseum, etc on Sunday. If not, I'll move forward with making reservations at the Borghese for Sunday.

There are no changes or refunds for online purchases. You can always come back on Sunday to visit the forum and palatine hill. Your ticket is good for two consecutive days with one entry into each sites during those two days. Donna

Thanks Donna, actually I called this in and made the purchase over the phone and only for the Underground tour since I'm going to get the RomaPass. I'm assuming the same applies in that I won't be able to change then?

I just called to ask and they said it's not possible to change the date, so looks like I'm locked in! No problem. I just went ahead and called the Borghese to make a reservation. All they gave me was a 5-digit reservation number and nothing else - it sounds like I just come with that number and pay in person (or show the RomaPass)?

Just to confirm there is ONLY one company that does the underground tour right? I am making sure as I am using another company for a food tour and they have other tours just around rome. BUT before I ask them..they should not be able to do the underground tour correct.

There are other companies that offer the underground tour. I don't know if they conduct the tours themselves or turn you over to the official guides since I haven't taken a private tour. Even if the company you're booked with does do the underground tour there is no reason not to book with the official site. It will save you money since most other companies over charge for this tour. donna

I just called to book my underground tickets in May and was told that since I have a Roma pass to book online the ticket online for 10.50Euros. After reading all of the previous posts I notice everyone saying that you have to phone for this tour if using the Roma Pass - HELP!! Should I call back and hope for a different operator or book as instructed??

You cannot book just the tour online. You must do it by phone. Tell the operator that you want to book just the tour. If they tell you to book online tell them you don't have the internet, just an email account. They will then book the tour. I'm not sure why they would send you to the website since there isn't a category for tours using the romapass. Donna

One other question, it looks like I can print the $13.50 ticket at home, but not the $22.50 one (coming up $22.50, not $21.50) I see now that is the option I would choose. I feel like an idiot here and not quite sure if it's me or the site. So anyway, has anyone been able to print the underground tour at home? I am hoping that even if you collect them onsite there won't be a line to do so? Thanks again!

I don't think that there is an option to print out tickets for the underground tour. You have to pay for them and pick them up a half hour before the start of the tour. There is a special line for paid via the internet (remember to bring the receipt and an ID).

Thank you Don. I just found Donna's post on Trip Advisor and it is such an excellent, informational post! However, it's long and I didn't see anything about being able to print the Underground at home, which I think you are right after spending way too much time on it, you cannot. Thanks for responding. I can't wait until I am not such a Newbie anymore. Have a great night.

Denise, the ubderground tour says "underground tour". That's the one you want. You're also correct in that you cannot print tour tickets at home. This option is only good for printing entry tickets only. Donna

The tour alone costs 9 euros. If booked by phone there is a 1.50 service fee. Donna

I am planning to do the Colosseum underground tour, and also plan to purchase the RomaPass. Could anyone tell me what was the price for the underground tour alone (since the rest is covered by the RomaPass)?

Thanks Donna! While the Roma pass is beneficial, a big disadvantage is that there is no option to book the Colosseum underground tour online, and neither can you reserve the Borghese gallery. Both can be done only via phone. Today, I was unlucky in reserving the underground tour at the Colosseum. After dialling '0' for booking, a flurry of Italian, and a few minutes of hold time, the line kept disconnecting.
