Colosseum underground/third ring tour

Hi, I'm looking for a reliable option for touring the entire Colosseum. My girlfriend and I will be in Rome from 12/16-12/19 then back on 12/23. The CO-OP culture official site isn't offering tickets for all three levels until January. Does anyone have suggestions? I have looked at City Wonders and other similarly priced options but was curious about something a bit more affordable. Thanks

All the private tour companies will be expensive, often 3, 4 or even 5
times the cost that the official site charges. At this late date it's
probably the only option. I just checked the official site and there
are a ton of tickets available on December 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th.
Are you sure you used the correct site?

Donna, is the CoopCulture tour just as good as a Third Party Tour? I want to get the best experience; however, no sense spending any more money than I need to spend.

Thanks Donna, I will look again. I was able to find tickets for the Colosseum through CO-OP but was unable to find tickets for all three levels (that is my main objective, to tour the entire structure). I will attempt again through the link you sent.

I went last fall and used Walks of Italy - it is about $105 each but to me it was worth every penny. Great guides, no waiting! Enjoy Rome!

Yes, in my opinion, the official tour is just as good as the private companies. I've done the official tour a few times and also used two different private companies with different clients and I didn't notice any huge difference in the quality of the tour. Most of the private companies will include a tour of the forum but for me, that's a long day of touring and I like to take my time in the forum and not be rushed through it in a hour. For 9 euros, in addition to the entry fee, you really can't beat the price of the official tour. You also bypass the long ticket lines and can remain inside the colosseum for as long as you wish after the tour.

We used the regular tour offered by the Colosseum for underground and 3rd ring and I thought it was very good.

We did the official CO-OP tour but on our tour was the Walks of Italy tour. They met before, took the tour with us and then continues to Palantine Hill and the Forum (we ran into them several times after the 3rd Ring tour concluded). If you want a guided tour of all three areas they would be a great way to go. However, I know I was burnt out after the 3rd ring tour and would have been better served taking a break waiting until later to do the other areas. Live and learn :)
