Hi, desperate to get tickets for underground tour at the Colosseum during our 3 days in Rome, we were able to purchase 4 tickets for May 19 with the Italian Guided Tour. Even though we can't speak Italian, this was suggested by a TA expert, to at least get us access. So, we are hoping that as we move through with the Italian Group, we can listen to an "English" audio guide of the underground area. My questions are: 1) Is it possible to purchase an English Underground audio guide at the Colosseum? 2) Does anyone know of a 3rd party audio guide I can purchase in advance to load onto my phone? Mu understanding is that the RS audio guide does not cover that area of the Colosseum.. Thanks for any advice!

I've never seen one, very likely because one has never been necessary due to access being restricted to tours with human guides. I'd suggest doing some reading up online in advance so you have some idea how that area operated. There are some youtubes that contain background info as well, such as this one (which doesn't go down there but talks about it):

When watching one of the youtube videos, I noticed a "numbered" audio station underground, presumably where you stand to listen to the description of what you are in front of. It hows #15 so Im assuming there are a bunch. Anyone familiar with these or how they work? Thanks
