Colosseum underground and third tier tours

I will be visiting Rome during Aug first week and I was not able to book the Colosseum underground and third tier tours(day tour) through their website.I called them few times but was not able to connect to any of their officials...Hence I booked it through tickitaly.com. Its not a group tour but they just book the tickets for the same Colosseum underground and third tier tours and act as an agent. I have received the vouchers from them.... I want to know if any one has used tickitaly for Colosseum underground and third tier tours before and how reliable they are? Just don't want to have any surprises after reaching there....

I haven't used them as I always book directly through the official site. I would try calling again, during Italian business hours, and see if you can book directly and save the extra money. Then just cancel with tickitaly.

I just called this morning and was able to book the underground & third tier tour through Coopculture for July 17th at 9:40 a.m. I paid 9 Euros as I had previously paid for my entrance ticket to the Colosseum and Forum online. Stay on the line wait patiently. It took 5 minutes for an operator to answer my call. She spoke wonderful English, I had no problem at all with the reservation, and now have my reservation number for the 9:40 tour. Keep in mind that if you pay for your Colosseum and Forum "entrance ticket" online, you'll need to give them that particular reservation code when booking the underground tour. That way they know you've already paid for entering. Otherwise, you can pay for both the "entrance fee and underground tour fee" when on the line with the operator. :)

Hi-
I was just there in May and i did use tickitaly.com. It was a breeze they tell you where to meet them and when we got there the guide was there. They split us into groups of 12. It was very good experience. I did use them twice one for the colosseum and Accademia Galleria in Florence.

Have a wonderful trip.

Rome is a very safe city, even at night. You should have no problems getting to your hotel.

Thanks Donna…Can you also please suggest me whether it is better to book skip the line guided tour for St. Peter's Basilica….I have booked the tickets for vatican museum in the afternoon….Am visiting Vatican on a saturday….Is it possible to cover the St.Peter's Basilica, go up to the dome and then visit the museum at 1 PM...

There are no skip the line entry tickets to the basilica because the basilica is free to enter. Everyone must go through the metal detector. If you go early, when they first open, there shouldn't be much of a line and you should be able to visit the basilica and climb the dome before 1pm. Just don't be late for your museum entry or they have the right to make you wait in the line.

They are reliable. In the event of strikes you will know in advance about the disruption of service. Rome-Florence is a major line that they'll have trains running that route even with a strike, just not as frequent.

There is a Sunday train leaving Florence at 4:04 (16:04) and it's only an hour and half on the high speed train to rome. You'll get in at 5:35 (17:35) at Termini. Then you simply take the Leonardo Express to the airport from there. Those trains are frequent that you should be at the airport by 6:35. Incase one just leaves the station when you arrive and you say wait 20-30 min for the next departure to the airport. That will leave you with 3 hours before your flight takes off and plenty of time. I would say 95% you are fine leaving Florence at 4pm

Thanks Robert…Am planning to take the same train just worried about the delays….Incase of strikes how many days in advance will it be announced?

Strikes are usually announced at least several days in advance. For instance, a strike for July 12-13 was announced on June 30. Closer to that date, Trenitalia's stike page will reflect cancelled or delayed trains. The strike plan itself also could be cancelled.
