Colosseum Underground and Third Ring

Reservations for June just opened at 1:00 pm Rome time. In an hour of trying I had two browser windows open and my tablet but never was able to get to the point of ordering tickets.

I must have redialed the phone 50 times, all circuits busy.

Finally an answer and a few minutes of waiting and a very helpful lady answered and bingo I have reservations.

Good to know, thanks! We've been trying since the opening time with no luck yet. Glad it worked out for you.

Just keep hitting redial! Finally they will answer with recorded message in Italian and English. Select zero from the menu and after a short wait they will answer. At first the connection was choppy and with the language difference that was difficult but it cleared up. The lady spoke excellent English and was very patient as we walked thru reservations.

We were finally able to get in and book our first choice! However, it's been about 50 minutes, our credit card was charged, and no email yet. A little worrisome but hopefully, it will all work out.

The problem is that everyone is inundating the system. Just wait until tomorrow. The slots won't all be gone. They have two months worth of tours available. I've never heard of anyone not getting the tour they wanted unless they waited until the last possible minute to book.

This was our one day in Rome and we wanted a specific time so I wanted to leave nothing to chance.

I was concerned whether she got my email address but it came thru fine.

Hmcpeake, how many emails did you receive? We received one (actually, once we called back and had them correct our email address, they sent the same email three different times) that says Pagamento riceveto prenotazione at the top. With the translation, it looks like the directions say that we are supposed to produce a ticket receipt of payment and a reservation sheet. Did you get two separate items? Also, our payment total was € 46.00. We were only charged a reservation fee for the admission tickets and not the tour for some reason. I saw where other people were charged € 50.00. Did you get charged a reservation fee for both? We are really looking forward to this tour and I want to make sure that we have everything in order.

Thank you!

I received the same email as you did. I was buying for 4 people so I paid the 2 euro fee for 4. I interpret that the email with payment information and reservation code is all we need. Still have lots to do before we leave.

Thank you for your reply. We'll just bring that email along then. Have an amazing trip!

Just made the final payment on our rental house and the keys are in the mail. Now in addition to me being excited so are my wife, grandson and his friend that we are taking with us.

I received an e-mail that says 'Conferma ordine n.YTGHJMUT' on the top - I am assuming that is our reservation code.

From my understanding, that is all you need to provide to the tickets office (hope I am correct)

i'm confused as i reserved my third rings tickets online and did not call. i also booked the day the tickets opened for june
i paid 44 euros for 4 people but i hope that i reserved a proper tour not just paid the entrance fee. the site was very confusing!
the description on my confirm email says (in english) - Underground and third order Visit English + Reservation
do i still need to purchase a ticket for the colosseum, palantine hill and forum? do we pick up that ticket at the same place that we pick up the tix for the 3rd ring. do i have to book a specific time for these places or just the specific day?
if our tour is supposed to start at 9:40am, what time should we arrive.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Cathy - I reserved my tickets online as well and booked for June 14th. I paid 11 euros per person (includes the 2 euro reservation fee). That reserves your tour for the underground and third ring, but it does not include your entrance fee. I e-mailed the information center and info@coopculture.it and they told me that I would also need to purchase an entrance ticket to get into the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill.

I was told you can buy that tickets at the reservation desk of the Colosseum the same day of the visit, before starting the tour. I also heard that you can buy the tickets at Palatine Hill, which has no queue lines. I think I will purchase my entrance tickets the day of our tour, either at Palatine Hill or when we get our tour tickets.

If your tour starts at 9:40, I would get there at least 30 minutes before in order to get your entrance tickets.

When I called I bought two adult tickets to the Colosseum and four tickets to the Underground Tour. Two 17 year olds were free into the Colosseum, not for the Underground. All seemed ok talking to the lady but I'll be a little nervous until it all works out.

No need to be nervous. Be sure to bring passports for everyone for age verification (plus it's the law in Italy if you are not an EU citizen). Go to the special events desk and show the passports for the 17 year olds. They will be given their free tickets and you will get your regular priced tickets. You will also check in for the tour at that time and will be instructed on where the meeting place is.

Thank you. When there's a lot of people it's easy to get in the wrong line. Ask me how I did this at the DMV a few weeks ago!
