colosseum underground 3rd ring tour

We are going to be in Rome on the 24th to the 27th of May. I have booked colosseum tickets already but tried to book the 3rd ring tour through coop culture and the site does not allow me to do this online. It says you must call and we don't speak Italian. Do you think it is ok to wait until we arrive to book the tour onsite? Or, has anyone had experience with calling and is there an English option? Your suggestions are appreciated.

You don't need to speak Italian to make the reservation over the phone. Simply ask for an English speaking operator and they will connect you. I would not wait until getting to Rome to book this tour. it's very popular and tends to sell out weeks in advance.

Thanks Donna. My husband tried to call today. He got an operator who spoke a little English and then my husband had a computer translator so he managed. However, he was told to call back next week since the week we will be there (starting the 24th of May) is not on sale yet. oh well...

I would call back today. They are taking bookings through the end of June but not all the operators know this. Just point it out that the website says they are available til June 30 and they should be able to book for you. Be sure when giving your email address that you spell it phonetically such as A for Antica, E for Ercolano....

Amazing tour. I booked ahead through Walks of Italy, which got us in with an very informative guide. We also saw the Forum; is so much better with a guide when you know what you are seeing! we were scheduled for a day when there was a 'strike' (G8 summit) and the Colosseum was closed; I only had the next half day before we left on a cruise and they were very accommodating in rebooking us on a tour from 8 - 12. Have been to Rome many times; learned so much on this tour! It is not cheap but well worth it!

You should be able to book now, I already booked mine for June 17. When I called I simply said "Buongiorno, parla inglese?" - in very bad Italian, and she said "Yes madam I do." and we were off! Spelling my email and her giving me the confirmation number were a bit challenging, since it was very loud where she was. I never got the confirmation email, but then I emailed the office with my confirmation number and they sent it. No problems.

But they are open for booking, so call back.

210 is highway robbery!!!!! The cost for an adult to do the underground tour (including booking fee) is 22 euros. For kids under 18 it's 11 euros (including booking fee). That's 66 euros for entry tickets to the colosseum, forum and palatine hill plus a tour of the underground/third tier. I would try to cancel and get your money back.
